Getting “big” isn’t the same as getting in shape. Most guys are missing the point when they dedicate years and even decades of their life in an effort to simply be bigger. You may be able to fill out a large shirt, but you many not ever want to take that shirt off in public. Leo Bell fell into this trap before he found the Adonis Index system and got ripped at age 48! This is a trap that many guys fall into and some never get out of. Months of ‘bulking’ turn into years, and the years turn into decades. Some guys can find themselves in the perpetual ‘bulked’ state for the better part of their 20’s and 30’s and in some cases even through their 40’s.

At some point this bulking cycle has to end and it becomes time to get into real shape and show off the muscle that you got.

Building muscle mass is part of the process, but getting lean is the other part. At some point you have to accept and understand the size isn’t the only goal.

It’s never too late to get in shape, and Leo Bell is living proof that once you put your mind and effort to the right goal you can achieve amazing results faster than you thought possible. The key is opening your mind to the concept of being lighter and leaner, and then sticking to a program that is designed to get you there.

Adonis Index Transformation Contest #5

The official start date of the next Adonis Index Transformation contest is Wed May 11th 2011.

As with the previous contests we’re always trying to make them a bit better each time so we’ve made a few changes to the structure and format.

Who can enter:

Anyone who is an Adonis Index customer can enter this contest except for those who placed in the top three in their respective category in our previous open contest. Placing in the top 3 in our previous open contest qualifies you for our annual level 2 competition that will be held in April 2012. There will be more details about the level 2 competition in the months to come.

Similar to the last contest there are going to be cash prizes for the top 1-6 in the transformation which is judged on total change combined with best final look, total change in AI, how much you changed overall and how close your are to your true golden ratio.

The new twist is that you automatically qualify for the open contest as well, so this gives everyone double the chance to win. The open contest will no longer have age categories but rather we will give prizes for the top 1-6 in the open category as well.

If you think you already look pretty good and want to enter the contest, but you’re not sure you’ve got a big enough ‘transformation’ to make, go ahead and submit your before and after pictures anyway. The judging panel will automatically bump you up to the ‘open’ contest if you’re final look is good but your total transformation isn’t as big as other people who have farther to go. This is the easiest way for us to award as many prizes as possible to everyone who wants to enter.

There are cash prizes for places 1-6 in transformation and 1-6 in open (we’ve eliminated the age categories for the open category)

Entry into the transformation contest automatically enters you into the open as well.

Prize money for both categories of transformation and open are as follows:

1st Place – $500

2nd Place – $350

3rd Place – $250

4th Place – $200

5th Place – $200

6th Place – $200

Submitting Before Pictures:

“Before” pictures must be submitted by all contestants at the beginning of the contest to me at my email address johnbarban at gmail (dot) com

“Before” pictures required: standard front, back and side shots, standing relaxed with hands at your side, and at least one extra picture in the grouping with the current days newspaper (while you’re in the same position and wearing the same shorts so we can verify the date you took the pics). Find a spot in your house with a clear background or hang a plain sheet up behind you so you’re standing in front of a plain background.

Make sure the cover of the newspaper is visible and also include a close up pic of the news paper as well.

Name each before picture file according to the pose with your name and the word ‘before’ ex: name_before_side

The earliest you can submit a before pictures is on May 11th, every day you wait after this day is one more day of transformation that you are losing compared to others who have submitting on May 11th. I’ll be accepting before pictures until the following wednesday May 18th (however I strongly advise you take them and send them on May 11th). So even if you take them on May 11th you have until May 18th to send them in to me.

You must also submit a document with your before statistics including:

Age, Height, Waist measurement, Shoulder measurement, current Adonis Index Ratio.

Send all materials in a zip file.

All contestants must submit before pictures and statistics as stated above no matter if you feel you’ll end up in the open category or in the transformation category. The judges will decide which category you will end up in.

Your pictures will remain on my personal drive and will not be used or viewed by anyone for any purpose. If you choose not to complete the contest or have to bow out for any reason your pictures will never be used, viewed or posted for any reason whatsoever.

The rest of this post the the legal mumbo jumbo about privacy and the legal right to photo’s etc. This is the same stuff as the previous four contests.

Finding Your Motivation Interview With Andrew Scott

We’re in the 3 week of the fourth Adonis Index transformation contest and motivation to push through the full 12 week run is a big factor in winning and making a big change.

This post is to list the final rules and regulations for the  current Adonis Index transformation contest as well as the “open” category that happens on April 13 2011.

Note: You must be an Adonis Index customer to be eligible to compete in these contests.

CONTEST RULES AND REGULATIONS

Contest Starts: Wed, Jan 19st, 2011 midnight

Contest Ends: Wed April 13th, 2011 midnight

Before pictures do not need to be submitted until the end of the contest, however your before pictures must include at least one picture of you with the current issue of the national newspaper in order to validate the day you took the picture.

Successful Completion Requirements:

1) Before and After photos with dated newspaper in hand for the date of the photos

2) Before and After measurements as outlined in the previous post

2) 250 word essay – “My Adonis Index Story Story”

Vital Stats (both Before AND After) – including Name, Height, Weight, Venus Index Measurements:

1. Shoulder Measurement

2. Waist Measurement

You can also include arm, chest, and leg measurements if you like (however you will not be judged on these).

Arms: measure at thickest point around your biceps/triceps.

Legs: Measure approximately 8-10 inches above your knee

The way your body looks changes from day to day, and even from hour to hour, and on a bigger scale from month to month and year to year. Today we’re going to focus on what it takes to get into condition for a winning look. And what better way to do this than with Allen Elliot…he know what it takes to ‘dial it in’ and he’ll be sharing some the techniques he used to get into the condition you see here.

There are many factors that go into the look of your body including:

Total bodyfat – Not much to explain here. If you’re carrying too much fat none of your muscle will show through

Body Water – From fully hydrated after a meal to bodybuilding contest dehydrated and fasted

Training History – Do you have years of well developed muscle mass, or are you still a novice with room to grow

Current Training State – Are you pumped up from a workout or just got out of bed

And finally are you ‘dialed in’ to win a contest, or are you maintaining within striking distance for the next contest, photoshoot, or simply just the next time you feel like you want to tighten things up and make an impression.

Crafting a winning look to your body is a lot like working on a sculpture…but in this case the clay is your body and your tools are your workout and your diet (I think Arnold says it in a very similar way in his movie “pumping iron”)

Finally, the way you pose and display your body is the icing on the cake and could very well determine if you win or lose a bodybuilding show or the upcoming Adonis Index “open” competition.

In todays interview we pick Allen Elliots brain on how he learned to dial in for his bodybuilding show and really display his hard work through proper posing and contest conditioning.

If you get caught up explaining why you can’t do it, or can’t start now, you’ll never start. You’ll always find a reason to be ‘too busy’ or ‘too tired’ or ‘too caught up in other things’. None of these are legitimate excuses…instead they’re just excuses.

From working 80 hour work weeks, to avoiding chocolate and trail mix snacks all day long, to having to workout at 6am every morning…Jason did what most people won’t do, and the results speak for themselves.

Jason explains how he managed to make a dramatic transformation while constantly being tempted with food every day, and working ungodly hours but still making it to the gym. If anyone ever had an excuse why it wouldn’t be possible to make a change, Jason is the guy…but he didn’t let the constraints of his life hold him back.
